Jairzinho Rozenstruik (No. 4) vs. Cyril Gane (No. 7)
Round One: The marquee of the evening is upon us in the form heavyweight prospects hoping to make the leap into title contention between Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Cyril Gane. After introductions from Bruce Buffer, final instructions from referee Herb Dean and a touch of the gloves, this one is underway. Gane opens the action with a lighting fast left jab that finds a home and Rozenstruik just misses a left hook in response. The first two-minutes have been much of a feeling-out process between the two behemoths. Gane lands a straight right to the body and Rozenstruik catches a Gane body-kick attempt with a left hook that partially lands and catches the attention of the Frenchman. Gane lands a left kick to the body that appears to have hurt Rozenstruik and Gane uses the momentum to get the fight into the clinch against the fence. Gane works for a takedown and finally gets it as the buzzer sounds and the first round comes to a close.
Round Two: The second round begins and Gane lands a lead leg kick to open the frame. The opening two-minutes of this round is more of the same and both men continue to try and find their opening. Gane continues to land kicks to Rozenstruik's lead leg and follows it up with a left jab that finds a home. Rozenstruik narrowly misses a right hook and follows it up with a lead leg kick of his own. Gane clinches up with Rozenstruik and gets him pressed against the cage. Gane tosses Rozenstruik to the mat and almost gets his back but Rozenstruik gets out of danger and the pair trade knees inside of the clinch. Gane lands a right jab and follows it up with a straight right to Rozenstruik's body as the buzzer sounds and this one is headed to the third round.
Round Three: Gane opens the third round with a left jab and just misses a head kick. Gane lands another jab and yet another kick to Rozenstruik's lead leg. Gane faints for a takedown and nearly eats a massive right hand but quickly gets out of danger. Gane continues to eat at Rozenstruik's lead leg and both men still can't seem to quite get their timing down. Gane lands yet another left jab and follows it up with yet another heavy kick to Rozenstruik's lead leg. Gane finds a home for a straight right to the body, Rozenstruik misses a right hook and Gane goes for a level change but the buzzer sounds and this one is heading for main event rounds.
Round Four: The fourth round opens up with Gane landing a kick to the body of Rozenstruik. Both men continue to feel each other out and Gane is heavily out-landing Rozenstruik due to the jabs and lead leg kicks. Gane lands a lighting quick front kick to the body and a pair of right jabs that land flush on Rozenstruik. Gane surges forward with a step-in knee but it lands low and referee Herb Dean stops the fight to allow Rozenstruik to recover. Rozenstruik gives the OK and Dean allows the fight to resume. Gane lands a jab and a heavy left hook that catches Rozenstruik's attention and may be the biggest shot of the night, thus far. Gane starts laughing at Rozenstruik as the buzzer sounds and this one is headed for a fifth and final round.
Round Five: The final round is underway and it appears as if Rozenstruik needs a finish to snag a win. Gane is starting to find a rhythm and lands a pair of jabs that land right on the nose of Rozenstruik. Gane gets the fight against the fence but Rozenstruik is able to power out of the hold and circle back to the center of the octagon. Gane continues to work the jab/leg kick combination and Rozenstruik needs a finish as the final two-minutes approach. Gane rushes in and gets the fight against the fence with a body lock as he begins to feel the pressure from Rozenstruik. Gane gets to the back of Rozenstruik and rides out the clock and this fight is going to the judge's scorecards.
Result - Cyril Gane (No. 7) def. Jairzinho Rozenstruik (No. 4) via unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45, 50-45)
Nikita Krylov (No. 8) vs. Magomed Ankalaev (No. 11)
Round One: The co-feature of the even sint is underway and Krylov immediately gets Ankalaev in the clinch and is able to get his Russian-opposition to the mat but Ankalaev quickly gets back to his feet but Krylov again gets the fight locked into the clinch. Ankalaev pushes Krylov away and lands a right hook that catches the Ukranian's attention. Ankalaev shoots for a takedown but is denied by Krylov as the buzzer sounds and the opening frame comes to a close.
Round Two: The second round begins and Krylov opens up with a pair of inside leg kicks. Ankalaev counters with a right hook and a lead leg kick of his own. Ankalaev begins to open up his offense a bit and lands a left hook that stuns Krylov and follows it up with yet another leg kick. Krylov throws a head kick but Ankalaev ducks under the attempt and drags his opponent to the mat. The Russian-contender lands a few shots of ground and pound but Krylov is able to escape back to his feet but Ankalaev gets him right back to the mat and the buzzer sounds as this one will see a third and final round.
Round Three: Krylov begins the final round with a front kick that just misses and he eats a massive overhand right from Ankalaev for his troubles. Ankalaev lands a pair of lead leg kicks and Krylov gets the fight back to the fence and works for a takedown. Ankalaev reverses momentum and gets Krylov to the mat and gets in top control. Ankalaev isn't able to do much damage on the ground but he rides out the clock, the buzzer sounds and this one is headed to the judge's scorecards.
Result - Magomed Ankalaev (No. 11) def. Nikita Krylov via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Montana De La Rosa vs. Mayra Bueno Silva
Round One: This one is officially underway and De La Rosa pushes the pace and initiates the clinch and has Silva pressed against the cage. Silva attempts a guillotine but gets dragged down to the mat by De La Rosa. Silva powers back to her feet. De La Rosa tries to drag Silva down to the mat but Silva blatantly grabs the cage to stop the takedown. Referee Jerin Valel immediately stops the fight and rightfully takes a point away from Silva. The fight resumes and Silva is now the aggressor, knowing that point deduction could hurt her chances of this one goes to the judges. Silva cracks De La Rosa with a right hook but again finds herself pressed up against the cage. Silva drills De La Rosa with a knee to the face and another to the body while in the clinch. De La Rosa is forced to circle back to the center of the octagon but again comes right forward and has Silva against the fence but the buzzer sounds and the opening frame comes to a close.
Round Two: The second round begins and Silva lands a head kick that stubs De La Rosa and then immediately explodes for a takedown and lands it. Silva lands a couple shots of ground and pound but De La Rosa is able to scramble back to her feet. De La Rosa lands a straight left but narrowly misses a head kick attempt. De La Rosa gets Silva against the cage and is able to secure a takedown and ends up on top position. De La Rosa doesn't stay very busy from top control and teases a head and arm choke before the buzzer sounds and this one is heading to the final frame.
Round Three: The third and final round begins with much of the same as De La Rosa gets Silva in the clinch against the fence but Silva nearly locks in a choke but De La Rosa uses the distraction to get the fight to the mat. Silva explodes to her feet and lands a nasty knee that stuns De La Rosa but she isn't deterred and continues to hold in the clinch. De La Rosa's nose is bleeding pretty heavily but she's able to power through and land a takedown but the buzzer sounds to end the fight before she can do much damage and a third straight main card bout will go to the judge's scorecards.
Result - Montana De La Rosa vs. Mayra Bueno Silva Declared A Majority Draw (28-27 Silva, 28-28, 28-28)
Pedro Munhoz (No. 8) vs. Jimmie Rivera (No. 9)
Round One: The battle between a pair of top-10 bantamweights is officially underway and Munhoz throws a wild head kick that just misses and causes him to slip to the mat but he's able to gather himself. Rivera lands a pair of kicks to Munhoz's lead leg and just gets out of the way of another high kick from the Brazilian. Munhoz stings Rivera with a heavy left hook but Rivera doesn't seem too phased by his power, just yet. The pair exchange right hooks and neither seem to be very worried about defense for the moment. Munhoz narrowly misses a teep-kick but follows it up with a left hook to the body that finds a home. Munhoz misses yet another head kick but lands a heavy right hook that catches Rivera's attention. Munhoz begins to chew up Rivera's lead leg and it's showing as Rivera begins limping around the octagon and continuously jumps to try and get the blood flow back into his left leg. Rivera gets Munhoz's respect with a straight right and just misses a follow up left hook as the buzzer sounds and the opening round comes to a close.
Round Two: Round number two begins and Munhoz goes launching towards Rivera for a rolling knee-bar and almost gets it but Rivera is able to roll through and get back to his feet. A left hook from Rivera lands flush on the right cheek of Munhoz and a vicious leg kick by Rivera causes Munhoz to slip to the mat. Rivera goes in for a double leg but the attempt is stymied by Munhoz. Rivera lands a lead leg kick and combos it with a right hook that lands. Munhoz partially lands a spinning back kick but Rivera waves him off and shakes his head as if the attempt didn't land. Munhoz continues the attack of that left leg of Rivera and the damage is continuing to show. Munhoz lands a front kick to the body of Rivera and follows it up with yet another kick to the lead leg. Both men throw leather with absolutely no remorse in the final five seconds of the round but nothing of significance lands and this one will go to a third and final round.
Round Three: The third and final round gets underway and both men pick right up where they left off and throw hammers in one another's direction. However, nothing seems to really land until Munhoz plants another kick on the chewed up lead leg of Rivera. Munhoz goes for a front kick to the body but it's a bit too low and referee Herb Dean steps in and temporarily stops the bout. After about a 15-second stoppage, Rivera is recovered and Dean resumes the action. Neither man is able to find a home for much offense but we get another quick stoppage for another Munhoz kick that goes a bit too low but the fight is back underway after about a five-second break. Munhoz lands a heavy kick to the body but Rivera catches his leg but can't get the takedown after Munhoz spins out of danger. Both men flash leather for the final few seconds but this one is heading to the judge's scorecards.
Result - Pedro Munhoz (No. 8) def. Jimmy Rivera (No. 9) via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
Alex Caceres vs. Kevin Croom
Round One: The main card is underway and Caceres immediately lands a kick to the body of Croom. Caceres escaped the counter hook attempt from Croom and sends him to the canvas with a hook of his own. Croom gathers himself and launches himself in the direction of Caceres but Caceres is able to defend the takedown attempt. Croom keeps the pressure on and has Caceres against the fence where he lands a pair of elbows to Caceres' body but still can't get the takedown as Caceres displays sound defense throughout the round. Caceres throws a knee to the body but slips, Croom uses the momentum to get the fight to mat, Caceres reverses position and gets top position and lands a few shots of ground and pound as the buzzer sounds, signaling an end to the opening frame.
Round Two: The second begins and Croom immediately pushes the pace but eats a hook from Caceres that stops him in his tracks. Croom initiates the clinch and has Caceres against the fence and eventually works in a takedown. Caceres is extremely active from his back while in guard and locks in a triangle choke but Croom calmly escapes danger. Caceres teases a few submission attempts and uses the distraction to get back to his feet, where Croom latches back onto him and gets him clinched up against the fence, yet again. Caceres pushes Croom away and lands a nice 1-2 combo before the round comes to an end.
Round Three: The final round is underway and on most people's unofficial cards, Croom needs a finish to steal a win. A visibly tired Croom shoots for a somewhat sloppy takedown but is easily denied by Caceres. Croom tries to get Caceres into the clinch but is again quickly denied. Caceres gets tripped up by Croom but immediately gets back to his feet and lands a kick to the body. An absolutely exhausted Croom gets dragged to the mat by Caceres, who easily gets top position, goes for the choke but Croom is able to stay in the fight for at least the moment and eats a few shots from Caceres as the buzzer sounds and this one is going to the judge's scorecards.
Result - Alex Caceres def. Kevin Croom via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27)
