Play-by-Play

(#6) Thiago Santos vs. (#10) Jamahal Hill

Round One - Santos lands a pair of low kicks to start the action. Santos continues the barrage of lead leg kicks as he lands another then shoots for a takedown but ends up clinching Hill against the fence. Hill holds his balance, Santos keeps trying for the trip but Hill knees Santos below the belt and this one is briefly halted. Santos takes just a moment to recover and this one is quickly resumed. Santos continues to land low kicks, Hill lands a 1-2 but Santos wobbles him with a counter left hook but the horn sounds to end the opening frame.

Round Two - Hill opens with some leg kicks to start round number two. Santos immediately drops to the canvas and looks for the takedown and gets it but Hill quickly scrambles back to his feet. Santos clinches Hill against the fence, drops to a knee, looking for another takedown but Hill holds firm and rocks Santos with a 1-2. Santos returns fire with a left hook, Hill whiffs on a high kick but lands a right hook, before ripping a left hook to the body. Hill lands a right hook, then another but the buzzer sounds to end round number two.

Round Three - Santos immediately goes for another takedown and gets it to begin the third round. Santos looks for side control but Hill pops back up as Santos clinches him against the cage. Hill spins out and lands a 1-2 but Santos fires off a counter left Holm that lands and the horn sounds to end a somewhat uneventful third round.

Round Four - Hill lands a 1-2 then a left hook to start. Hill rocks Santos with a left hook, Santos lands a pair of low kicks, Hill cracks Santos with another left hook, then lands a knee to the face, Santos fires back and lands a 1-2, and a right hook from Hill drops Santos to the mat. Hill swarms the Brazilian, who keeps scrambling, Hill is relentless with the follow up shots, Santos rolls and rolls, Hill continues the onslaught and starts raining down elbows and this one is finally waved off! What a wild finish as Jamahal Hill earns the the biggest win of his blossoming career and UFC Vegas 59 ends with 10 fights and 10 finishes!

(#6) Vicente Luque vs. (#13) Geoff Neal

Round One - Luque lands a low kick to open the action. Neal comes back with a low kick of his own and connects with a follow up right hook. Neal lands a 1-2 then another low kick but the Brazilian lands another kick to Neal’s led leg in response. Neal cracks Luque with a 1-2 and Luque crashes down to the mat but only for a moment as he pops right back up to the feet before Neal can swarm him. Luque lands a 1-2 but Neal drops Luque yet again, this time with a left hook. Luque scrambles back to his feet but is met by a hard jab from Neal, who cracks Luque with a left hook but Luque is saved by the bell as this one is somehow heading to round number two.

Round Two - Neal cracks Luque with a left but Luque lands a side kick to the body in return. Luque pops the jab and lands a low kick to boot. Luque with another body kick then one more to Neal’s lead leg and the horn sounds that’ll send this one to the third and final round.

Round Three - Neal immediately goes for a takedown but Luque stymies the attempt. Neal wobbles Luque with a looping left hook, Luque retreats to the fence, Neal fires off EIGHT(!) straight uppercuts and a follow up left hook sends Luque face down to the mat and this one is waved off! What a performance from Geoff Neal!

Mohammed Usman vs. Zac Pauga — TUF Heavyweight Final

Round One - Pauga launches himself right at Usman and just misses with a wild flying side kick. Pauga pops the jab and Usman trips Pauga to the mat and lands the takedown but Pauga gets right back to his feet. Usman whiffs on a left hook, Pauga lands a pair of low kicks then lands another at the horn to end a somewhat uneventful opening frame.

Round Two - Pauga with a low kick to start. Usman fires off a massive left hook and turns the lights off! What a knockout by Mohammed Usman!

Result: Mohammed Usman def. Zac Pauga via KO (punch) (0:36, R2)

Brogan Walker vs. Juliana Miller — TUF Women's Flyweight Final

Round One - Miller lands a 1-2 right off the bat to begin the TUF 30 Women’s Flyweight Final. Miller dives in and drags this one right down to the mat with plenty of time to work. Miller controls from the top but doesn’t land a single shot of consequence. Miller seems content and she rides out nearly the entire round on top until the buzzer sounds to end the opening frame.

Round Two - Walker begins the middle frame with a left hook. Miller fires back with a 1-2 and initiates the clinch. Miller trips Walker to the mar and immediately looks for the back and takes it. Miller gets under the chin and locks in the rear-naked choke but Walker uses the cage to break the hold and walks up the cage to get back to her feet. Miller clinches and trips Walker right back down, where she takes side control. Miller starts laying into Walker with ground and pound but the horn sounds that’ll send this one to the third and final round.

Round Three - Our two finalists exchange several shots as Walker knows she may need a finish to steal the victory. Miller lands a 1-2, then a right hook and gets Walker clinched against the fence. Miller trips Walker down to the mat and immediately starts firing down elbow after elbow. Walker scrambles but Miller holds her in position and continues the onslaught and this one is waved off! Juliana Miller is TUF 30’s first of two champions!

Result: Juliana Miller def. Brogan Walker via TKO (strikes) (3:57, R3)

(#14) Augusto Sakai vs. Serghei Spivac

Round One - Sakai opens the action with a low kick. Spivac immediately drops down for a takedown and drags Sakai to the mat. Spivac starts unloading the ground and pound then transitions to side control. Sakai scrambles and finally gets back to his feet but Spivac stays latched onto the Brazilian and trips him right back to the mat. Spivac continues to rain down the shots but Sakai manages to sneak back to his feet. Spivac cracks Sakai with a looping right hook clinches Sakai against the cage which is where the final few seconds of the opening frame rides out as the horn sounds to send this one to round number two.

Round Two - Spivac immediately goes for another takedown but Sakai sends him backward with a right hook. However, Spivac is relentless and drags Sakai down to the mat but Sakai pops right back up and shoves Spivac against the cage. Spivac gets Sakai right back down with a judo throw then wastes no time in lighting up his Brazilian counterpart with some heavy shots from the top. Spivac refuses to let up with the ground and pound and this one is mercifully waved off! Statement performance from Serghei Spivac!
