Former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler is in the midst of preparations for his upcoming bout against former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC On Fox 26.
Rory MacDonald fought Lawler for the welterweight title at UFC 189 and he is claiming that the former champion was on illegal substances during the bout.
The former welterweight champion believes MacDonald made up the story so he can cope with his loss at the event.
“I think he’s trying to figure out why things happened the way they happened and he’s finding a different way to cope with it,” Lawler said on the TSN MMA Show.
USADA wasn’t partnering with the UFC at that time, but the UFC did have drug testing and Lawler didn’t fail any of those tests.
Lawler also believes that MacDonald lost the will to fight against him, and that’s a reason as to why he lost their fight.
“I mean, I was getting hurt, I got stung by a head kick and he cut my lip with an elbow, but all you have in the end is your will to fight,” says Lawler.
UFC On Fox 26 takes place on Saturday, December 16 from the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with Robbie Lawler and Rafael Dos Anjos headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox.
