Former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler suffered a unanimous decision loss to former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos in the main event of UFC On Fox 26.
Lawler didn’t only suffer a defeat in that bout, but also suffered some serious injuries to his knee in the third round.
UFC President Dana White recently revealed the injuries Lawler suffered during an interview with Yahoo Sports:
“The guy’s leg was destroyed. Okay? Blew his ACL and his meniscus and every other thing that’s in your knee out in like the third round. Wobbled over to the fence, laid against it, and asked dos Anjos to come in so that they could just bang it out. Robbie Lawler went to the fifth round.”
The former UFC Welterweight Champion never did mention the injuries himself and the fight took place a little under a month ago.
These injuries to his knee are expected to keep Lawler out of action for at least the first half of 2018. Lawler won the UFC Welterweight Title back at UFC 181 and defended the belt twice before losing it to Tyron Woodley at UFC 201 in July of 2016.
