The former World Series Of Fighting Welterweight Champion in Rousimar Palhares is headlining Fight Nights Global 70, where he is taking on Alexei Ivanov.
Palhares (18-8-0) is going to be making his promotional debut in this fight and he does so while on a two fight losing streak. Palhares won the WSOF Welterweight Title when he defeated Steve Carl at the WSOF 9, but would be stripped of the title after a controversial fight with Jake Shields. Palhares also won eight fights under the UFC banner, with notable wins coming over Jeremy Horn, David Branch, Dan Miller and Mike Pierce.
Ivanov (11-3-0) has won three of four in Fight Nights Global competition, with those victories coming over Shafkat Odinaev, Luiz Cado Simon and Askar Mozharov. Ivanov is facing the first UFC/WSOF veteran in his professional MMA career, which has lasted just under seven years now. Ivanov is also competing for the first time in just over eight months, as his last bout was a loss to Gennadiy Kovalev at FNG 57in December 2016.
Fight Nights Global 70 takes place on Friday, July 7 from the FSK Sports Complex in Buryatia, Russia with Rousimar Palhares and Alexei Ivanov headlining. The event will air via tape delay on UFC Fight Pass.
