Rustam Khabilov has now earned a total of four straight wins in the UFC, with his last victory coming over Jason Saggo by unanimous decision at UFC 206. Khabilov now has his sights set on another lightweight contender in Kevin Lee.
“This year, I’m working a lot – this is my fourth fight,” Khabilov said in his UFC 206 post-fight interview. “I won all the fights, and all the fights I won all three rounds. All the judges gave me every fight. So yeah, I want to fight the top guys. But (Lee) talked about Dagestan wrestling. I live there. I wrestle every day, every morning with the Olympic champions and a lot of very good wrestlers. I want to try. If you want to try in wrestling, let’s go, we do this. No problem.”
Khabilov did have a first this past weekend at UFC 206 -- the first time he's missed weight. Khabilov is working with a nutritionist and he doesn’t expect the mistake to ever repeat itself.
“(It had) never (happened),” Khabilov said. “But I think this is (the) first and last time.”
Lee hasn’t competed since UFC Fight Night 99, where he defeated Magomed Mustafaev by a second round submission.
