One of MMA's Four Horsewomen has found success in professional wrestling, and got to enjoy it with Ronda Rousey and Jessamyn Duke.
Women's MMA pioneer Shayna Baszler captured the Absolute Intense Wrestling women's championship Friday night, dethroning Heidi Lovelace in the process. After the match, fellow Four Horsewomen members Rousey and Duke lifted Baszler up in celebration. There was speculation throughout the week that the Duke and Rousey would accompany Baszler, as Rousey's boyfriend Travis Browne is competing at UFC 203.
The show, titled "Bloodsport," capitalized on the UFC being in Cleveland by booking former UFC Superfight Champion Dan Severn, and Fightful.com's own Thursday podcast co-host Matt Riddle. Colt Cabana, Grado, Britt Baker, Candice Lerae, BJ Whitmer, and several other names were also on the show.
Baszler is a student of the legendary Billy Robinson, who passed away in 2014. Robinson trained the likes ot Kazushi Sakuraba and Josh Barnett, and had a hand in the training of dozens more. Baszler has trained with several WWE talents over the past couple of years, namely NIkki Bella, Natalya and Charlotte. Last month, Baszler worked out at the WWE Performance Center.
