In the era of the superfight, the UFC officially has one scheduled for this summer.

UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic (18-2) will defend his title against UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier (20-1, 1 NC) on July 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for UFC 226. If Cormier emerges victorious, he will join Conor McGregor as the only fighter to hold championships in two different weight classes simultaneously.

The two are also set to serve as coaches for The Ultimate Fighter 27 reality series, with filming starting next week.

Miocic and Cormier each emerged victorious at UFC 220 in Boston on January 21, defeating the challenges of Francis Ngannou and Volkan Oezdemir, respectively. Cormier had specified in previous years that he didn't want to move back to heavyweight because his friend Cain Velasquez competed there, but had been less committed to that decision of late. Cormier himself was 13-0 as a heavyweight before making the drop to 205 pounds.

Fightful's Jeremy Lambert wrote this week that this bout was a legacy fight the two needed. Fightful.com will have full, live coverage of UFC 226, including a live, post-show podcast.
