Former UFC light heavyweight title contender Thiago Santos has officially signed a deal with the PFL — this and much more in Thursday's social media roundup.
Thiago Santos signs with the PFL
Thiago Santos' time in the UFC was full of a lot of ups and a lot of downs.
Santos began his UFC career as a middleweight and this was the weight class he fought his first 15 UFC bouts at before making a move to light heavyweight in 2018.
When Santos made his light heavyweight debut against Eryk Anders, it was clear to see that 205 pounds was his natural fighting weight and he looked fantastic there.
After his win over Anders, Santos went on to secure back to back stoppage wins over Jimi Manuela and Jan Blachowicz which secured him a title shot against Jon Jones.
Santos was of course unsuccessful in this fight but was very competitive against the best fighter of all time.
Following his loss to Jones, Santos would go on to lose four out of his last five UFC fights.
This led to Santos being let go by the UFC and the Brazilian has now signed a deal with the PFL and will compete in their light heavyweight tournament in 2023.

Nate Diaz says he "gave up on preparing" for Khamzat Chimaev
This upcoming weekend at UFC 279, one of the biggest stars in the sport, Nate Diaz will make his final walk to the UFC Octagon against arguably the most exciting prospect in MMA right now, Khamzat Chimaev.
Diaz has always been very open and honest in his interviews over the years and it is safe to say that nothing has changed.
During a media scrum yesterday, Diaz admitted that he "gave up on preparing" for Chimaev.

If Diaz is being deadly serious, which in all honestly he probably is, then that is a very dangerous move as he is fighting one of the most feared fighters in the world right now in Khamzat Chimaev who is one win away from a title shot.
UFC veteran Junior Dos Santos brands Ciryl Gane a "dirty fighter"
During the finishing sequence of the fight last weekend between Ciryl Gane and Tai Tuivasa, Gane appeared to hammerfist Tuivasa to the back of the head.
Even though there were no complaints from Tuivasa, a few pundits and fellow fighters picked up on it.
One of the fighters who picked up on it was former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos.
In a post on Twitter, Dos Santos branded Gane a "dirty fighter."

This post from Dos Santos was probably fueled from the fact that when JDS and Gane fought, Gane knocked him out with an elbow which was borderline the back of the head.
