Thiago Santos earned himself a first round knockout victory over Jack Hermansson on the main card of UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo.
For his next fight in the UFC, the surging middleweight would like an opportunity to battle fellow divisional contender Derek Brunson.
“Whether he (Derek Brunson) wins or loses against Lyoto, I’ll take the fight with him,” Santos said after the event. “All he needs to do is take it, too.”
Brunson did get the first round knockout win over former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida in the main event of UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo.
Santos believes that the UFC brass should be giving him more attention by now and that’s why he called out the highly ranked Brunson.
“A guy who has seven knockouts in the biggest promotion in the world should have been noticed by now,” Santos said. “If they haven’t already, whatever. Even better, (my opponents) can be reckless, think I’m not going to touch them, like (Hermansson) did. But when I touch them, they’ll fall.”
The called out Brunson has yet to respond to the challenge from Santos, but he also called out former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold for a future fight.
