Third Title Bout Added To UFC 217

A third title bout has been added to a increasingly stacked UFC 217 card as UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt defends the gold against former champion TJ Dillashaw.

Garbrandt (11-0-0) is making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Dominick Cruz by unanimous decision at UFC 207. Garbarndt had been dealing with a back injury that had caused him to pull out of a scheduled title defense against Dillashaw at UFC 213. Garbarndt also enters the fight on an eleven fight undefeated streak, which has last just about five years.

Dillashaw (14-3-0) enters the fight on the strength of a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Raphael Assuncao and John Lineker. Dillashaw won the UFC Bantamweight Title at UFC 173 and would defend it twice before dropping the gold to Dominick Cruz at UFC Fight Night 81. Dillashaw has seen his last three fights go the distance and it has been over two years since the last time he got a finish.

UFC 217 takes place on Saturday, November 4 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Michael Bisping and Georges St. Pierre headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
