Nate Diaz: I Want To Go Back And Win A UFC Title But Everybody's Boring Right Now

Nate Diaz wants the UFC Welterweight Championship but says the current roster doesn't generate enough buzz to inspire him to make a comeback.

Nate Diaz recently appeared on Full Violence and was asked about his future aspirations and legacy. He said he plans on fighting forever, and when asked about what could give him some closure, he mentioned wanting the UFC championship and explicitly wanting to fight in the welterweight division.

"Well, everybody's boring right now. So I'm trying to do other shit for the moment, but I want to go back and get a UFC title. I don't want to fight for nothing. I want to fight for something," he explained.

He asked who the division's current champion was, and when he couldn't get an answer, he explained that that's exactly why he's not trying to come back.

"See, exactly, that's what I'm saying. Why would I go back to UFC right now to fight... who? I'm the champion as far as I'm concerned," he said. "It's about buzz and who's popping and who's doing something. Right now, there's nobody doing shit."

He would mention Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya as names that might have interested him at one point. Still, the more he was asked about a potential comeback, the more he repeated that nobody excites him.

"There's no buzz. Nobody's doing shit that nobody's a fight. Everybody's whack. Every-single-body, boxing and MMA," he reiterated.

Belal Muhammad is the current UFC Welterweight Champion. He won the title on July 27, 2024, after defeating Leon Edwards by unanimous decision at UFC 304.

Nate Diaz's MMA record is 22-13. His last fight was in 2022, when he defeated Tony Ferguson in the main event of UFC 279.

He recently defeated Jorge Masvidal in a boxing bout back in July 2024. Learn more here.
