A pair of non-tournament fights have been added to the Rizin 3 event as Daron Cruickshank faces Satoru Kitaoka and Kazuyuki Miyata faces Andy Souwer.
Cruickshank (18-8-0-1NC) is currently undefeated in Rizin FF competition, defeating both Shinji Sasaki and Andy Souwer. Cruickshank is a longtime veteran of the UFC as well, where he won a six of a total thirteen fights in the promotion.
Kitaoka (39-14-9) will be making his promotional debut in this fight and he will be doing so on the strength of a two fight winning streak. Kitaoka previously challenged for the Pancrase and DREAM Lightweight Titles, he came up short in both attempts.
Miyata (14-9-0) is also going to be making his Rizin FF debut in this fight, he will be doing so while on a three fight winning streak. Miyata will also be returning to action for the first time in just over two years, it’s the second longest absence from competition during his professional MMA career.
Souwer (1-1-0) will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Daron Cruickshank at Rizin 2. Souwer has yet to get past the opening round since turning pro in late 2015, his longest fight was his professional MMA debut, which barely went over five minutes.
Rizin 3 takes place on Thursday, December 29 from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan with Wanderlei Silva and Mirko Cro Cop headlining.
