UFC featherweight Rafael Alves missed weight badly for his fight with Pat Sabatini at this weekend's UFC Vegas 19 event.
Alves took to the scales for the official weigh-in and it wasn't great, as he missed the 146-pound limit for the contest by 11.5 pounds weighing in at 157.5 pounds, even being 1.5 pounds over the lightweight limit. He revealed to MMAFighting's Guilherme Cruz before the matchup that this would be his last fight in the featherweight division and it appears to be for good reason.
Rafael Alves told me a couple of days ago that this would be his final fight at 145 before returning to lightweight, but now he misses weight by 12 pounds for UFC Vegas 19. Not good.

Sabatini did successfully make weight himself for the bout, weighing in at 145.5 pounds but there is no word yet if the fight will continue on as scheduled. Other fighters that missed weight during the UFC Vegas 19 weigh-ins were Ketlen Vieira, Drako Rodriguez, and Jared Gordon. Vieira weighed in at 138 pounds, missing the 136-pound limit for her co-main event bout with Yana Kunitskaya. Rodriguez (140.5) and Gordon (150) both missed weight for their respective bouts by nearly five pounds.
