A light heavyweight division attraction will headline UFC Fight Night Moncton as #2 Volkan Oezdemir is in action against #9 Anthony Smith.
Oezdemir (15-2-0) is competing for the first time since losing a UFC Light Heavyweight Title fight to Daniel Cormier in the co-main event of UFC 220. Oezdemir won three fights in the UFC prior to that defeat, with those victories coming over Ovince St. Preux, Misha Cirkunov and Jimi Manuwa. Oezdemir also won just one of two under the Bellator MMA banner, with that lone win coming over Josh Lanier at Bellator 105.
Smith (30-13-0) has been undefeated since moving up to the light heavyweight division, having defeated the duo of Rashad Evans and Mauricio Rua. Smith is currently in the midst of his second run with the UFC, holding an overall record of 6-3-0 in the promotion. Smith is headlining his second straight UFC event, with his previous main event fight being a win over the aforementioned Rua at UFC Fight Night Hamburg.
UFC Fight Night Moncton takes place on Saturday, October 27 from the Moncton Events Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada with Volkan Oezdemir and Anthony Smith headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
