A welterweight division contest is the latest addition to the UFC 224 card as Warlley Alves is going to be in action against Sultan Aliev.
Alves (11-2-0) has won just one of his last three under the UFC banner and that lone win came over Salim Touahri at UFC Fight Night Gdansk. Alves has seen his last three bouts in the UFC go the distance and it has been over two years since the fighter earned a finish. Alves also returns to pay-per-view for the first time in almost two years, with his last such appearance coming at UFC 196 in May of 2016.
Aliev (14-2-0) is looking to build on the momentum of his first UFC win, which came over Bojan Velickovic at UFC On Fox 22. Aliev also competes for the first time in well over a year, with his last appearance at UFC On Fox 22 coming in December of 2016. Aliev also competed twice under the Bellator MMA banner, winning one of those two fights in the promotion.
UFC 224 takes place on Saturday, May 12 from the Jeunesse Arena in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil with Amanda Nunes and Raquel Pennington headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
