Hopes of a Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua matchup have been dashed. In January 2025, Fury announced his retirement from the sport of heavyweight boxing. It comes after two back-to-back defeats against Oleksandr Usyk.
Over the years, Fury has announced his retirement a number of times. But this time it appears serious. The boxer announced he had nothing more to give and money would not get him back in it. But what is he likely to do during his retirement?
Fury, surprisingly, has a lot of options. For one, there is the Netflix show, At Home With the Fury. A docuseries, there is already one season following him as he embraces retirement before. He came back though after this series aired. However, the series has been renewed, and with this latest retirement announcement, the next season could be equally as fun and interesting.
With such a lot of experience within boxing, it's also possible that Fury, like many other retired sportsmen, will turn to punditry. He has plenty of insight to give. Alternatively, at 36, there are other sports he could get into instead if he chose.
Of course, he's not limited to sports either. There are plenty of entrepreneurial options open to him. With a strong social media following, Fury has the option to transition to fashion, product, or even sports betting. Many top sportsbooks have spokespersons or famous sportsperson's advertising the brand. For new sites such as Monkey Tilt, the combination of a great betting platform with a well-known figure could be the perfect recipe for both sides.
But all this may be too early. Fury has retired at least three times before. Though is family have wanted him to retire for years, this still could be a last minute negotiating tactic. At least it could be to the more cynical out there.
