Yancy Medeiros scored the biggest win of his MMA career Saturday night at UFC 218 in Detroit over #15-ranked Alex "Cowboy" Oliveira.
In a fight that will go down among the best of all-time, both men sustained flurries from the other, overcame broken noses and heavy strikes until Medeiros was able to put Oliveira away in the third round.

Round Three: The round begins with Medeiros attempting a head kick against Oliveira, Medeiros then cracks Oliveira with a kick to the midsection. Oliveira charges at Medeiros while attacking him with a punching combination, Oliveira scores a takedown and Medeiros gets right back up. Oliveira scores another takedown and he gets back control on Medeiros, Medeiros spins at the right time to get top position on Oliveira. Medeiros transitions to the half guard against Oliveira, Oliveira scrambles to his feet to get the fight standing again. Medeiros backs Oliveira into the cage with a huge combination, Medeiros drops Oliveira with a bunch of lefts and he pounces on him with strikes until the referee jumps in.

After going 1-2 in his first three UFC fights (the win was overturned due to a positive marijuana test), Medeiros has won six of his last eight fights.
