Yoel Romero is the front runner to challenE UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping at a spring UFC event next year, but Romero doesn't seem on board with Bisping's trash talk.
"Michael Bisping just speaks to speak, he just talks to talk," Romero said on The MMA Hour. "He just tries to open his mouth so that something can be heard, but nothing's going to come out."
Romero and Bisping have met before, not in a fight, but a few years back in Germany when Bisping asked the middleweight fighter to help him with his wrestling game.
"In Germany I meet with the Cuban wrestling team," said Romero. "And I have a great reputation around the world for wrestling, and at that time Rampage Jackson and Michael Bisping shared same training camp in England and they both asked me to help out, and Michael Bisping said he would love for me to help him with wresting."
Romero, who would be fighting Bisping while on an incredible winning streak, credits religion for all the success in his MMA career and his physique.
"How can this man, this old man have that physique?" Romero stated. "How can that man beat these younger athletes? There answer is there, they just don't want to see it. It's not me, it's God. I'm still the No. 1 contender just because I don't have that belt on my waist yet, that's why I'm still No. 1 contender and not the champion. Now for the next fight I won't be the No. 1 contender anymore, I will be the champ."
Bisping has already defended the middleweight title against Dan Henderson at UFC 204, Romero will be getting his first attempt at the middleweight title in 2017.
