A bantamweight division attraction has been added to the upcoming UFC 212 card as Marlon Moraes will be making his UFC debut against #3 Raphael Assuncao.
Moraes (18-4-1) is the former World Series Of Fighting Bantamweight Champion, a title he relinquished upon becoming a free agent earlier this year. Moraes earned a total of eleven wins under the WSOF banner, the most notable of those wins coming over Miguel Torres, Tyson Nam, Carson Beebe, Josh Hill, Sheymon Moraes, Cody Bollinger and Josenaldo Silva. Moraes hasn’t suffered a defeat in almost six years, with his last loss coming to Deividas Taurosevicius at Ring Of Combat 38.
Assuncao (24-5-0) has won eight of his last nine fights in the UFC, but he only has a 2-2-0 record in UFC pay-per-view card fights. Assuncao has seen his last five fights go the distance and it has been nearly four years since the last time one of his bouts didn’t go to the judge’s scorecards. Assuncao has only suffered two defeats during his entire UFC tenure, those losses came to former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw and Erik Koch.
UFC 212 takes place on Saturday, June 3 from the HSBC Arena in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil with Jose Aldo and Max Holloway headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event.
