MVP Injured, Off Bellator 179

Michael “Venom” Page has suffered a knee injury and has been pulled from Bellator 179, where he was going to face Derek Anderson in the co-main event.

It’s unknown at this point if Anderson will remain on the card, which takes place on just over a week in London, England.

While MVP has yet to comment on the matter, the opponent in Anderson did speak to The Daily Telegraph.

“I’m upset, as MMA fighters we are always fighting injuries. I’ve fought through stuff my whole career and it would take a whole lot for me to pull out of a fight this close to it happening. This is how I make my living, so even longer of a layoff does me no good. When he gets rebooked, it better be against me and I want it to happen as soon as possible,” Anderson said.

Even if Anderson does remain on the card, the fight he would compete in will no longer serve as the co-main event. That’s because a light heavyweight division bout between former Bellator MMA Light Heavyweight Champion Liam McGeary and Linton Vassell will now occupy that spot.

Bellator 179 takes place on Friday, May 19 from the Wembley Arena in London, England with Rory MacDonald and Paul Daley headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs via tape delay on Spike TV.
