A welterweight division attraction is coming to this June’s UFC 225 card. As first reported by MMA Fighting as CM Punk takes on Mike Jackson.
Punk (0-1-0) made his professional MMA debut well over a year ago at UFC 203, suffering a first round TKO loss to Mickey Gall. Punk has no amateur MMA experience to speak of and he does train with Roufusport out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Punk is a longtime professional wrestler who has held a plethora of championships in both the WWE and Ring Of Honor.
Jackson (0-1-0) is also winless as a professional MMA fighter, dropping his debut bout to Mickey Gall at UFC Fight Night 82 in February of 2016. Jackson did compete once as an amateur MMA fighter, losing via unanimous decision to Nick Felder at Lonestar Beatdown 12 in September 2009. Jackson hasn’t competed since that loss at UFC Fight Night 82 and he would be returning to action after a two-plus year absence.
Since the report of the fight came out a few weeks back, a tweet would then be published Punk indicating that he is fighting at UFC 225, but an opponent was not mentioned.
