Report: John Cena To Referee Match At Survivor Series, Raw To Feature Survivor Series Build, Shane McMahon And Smackdown Talent Backstage

The main event for Survivor Series just got a little more interesting, if reports are true.

PWInsider is reporting that John Cena is being talked about as the special guest referee for the match between Brock Lesnar and Jinder Mahal at Survivor Series. That would mark the first time he would be on WWE television since he lost to Roman Reigns at No Mercy last month.

Brock Lesnar is also backstage at Raw, and is scheduled to accept Jinder Mahal's challenge from last week's Smackdown.

They are also reporting that a number of matches will be set up on tonight's episode of Raw, including Survivor Series elimination matches for both male and female competitors. One match reportedly set for tonight's show is Sasha Banks vs Bayley, with the winner becoming the captain of a Raw vs. Smackdown women's Survivor Series match. A five way match on Smackdown Tuesday will reportedly determine team captain for that brand.

Shane McMahon is backstage at the show. He will be there to likely set up the men's match between Raw and Smackown competitors.

Another Survivor Series match scheduled for Survivor Series is a cruiserweight bout where Kalisto and Enzo Amore will form teams to take on another another in a traditional elimination match. That is currently penciled in to be Enzo Amore, Tony Nese, Drew Gulak, Noam Dar and Ariya Daivari against Kalisto, Sin Cara, Rich Swann, Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali.

Other matches talked about for Survivor Series, which will take place on November 19, include Natalya vs. Alexa Bliss in a non-title match, United States champion Baron Corbin vs. Intercontinental champion The Miz a non-title match, and tag team champions Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz in a non-title match. Kane vs. Braun Strowman, which was set up last night at TLC when Kane turned on Strowman during the main event.

It's worth noting that Fightful's sources have denied that the plans are to utilize Cena as a ref on the show.
