MMA

A flyweight division fight between Tim Elliott and Justin Scoggins may be off UFC On Fox 26 due to a spinal injury to Scoggins.

It was Scoggins who announced the news via Twitter:

Wanderlei Silva, Tyron Woodley, Anthony Pettis, Benson Henderson, More Former UFC Names Sign With GFL

Despite the announcement from Scoggins, the UFC has yet to issue a statement of their own on the potentially canceled bout or new opponent.

However, MMA DNA is reporting that Pietro Menga is going to fight Elliott as a late replacement.

Elliott (14-8-1) has won just one of three during his second run with the UFC, with that win coming over Louis Smolka at UFC On Fox 24. Elliott has challenged for the UFC Flyweight Title, losing to current champion Demetrious Johnson by unanimous decision at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale. Elliott is also a former Titan Fighting Championships Flyweight Champion, defeating Iliarde Santos at Titan FC 34 to win the gold.

Menga (13-0-0) is going to be making his UFC debut in this fight and does so on an undefeated streak that has lasted over six years. Menga has also competed once under the Bellator MMA banner, defeating Spencer Hewitt by knockout at Bellator 158. Menga also returns to action for the first time in over a year, with his last bout coming in July of 2016.

UFC On Fox 26 takes place on Saturday, December 16 from the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with Robbie Lawler and Rafael Dos Anjos. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox.
