A lightweight division fight may be added to the upcoming Bellator 192 card as former Bellator MMA Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler battles Goiti Yamauchi.
MMA Fighting first reported the bout.
Chandler (16-4-0) is competing for the first time since he lost the Bellator MMA Lightweight Title to Brent Primus at Bellator 180. Chandler is a two-time Bellator MMA Lightweight Champion, defeating Eddie Alvarez and Patricky Freire to start both reigns. Chandler is competing in a non-title fight for the first time in over two years, since defeating Derek Campos at Bellator 138.
Yamauchi (22-3-0) enters the fight on the strength of a three fight winning streak and he last defeated Adam Piccolotti at Bellator 183. Yamauchi has only suffered two defeats under the Bellator MMA banner, they came to the duo of Bubba Jenkins and Will Martinez. Yamauchi has seen his last three fights all end within the opening round and it has been nearly two years since the last time one of the fighters bouts went the distance.
Bellator 192 takes place on Saturday, January 20 from The Forum in Inglewood, California with Douglas Lima and Rory MacDonald headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Spike TV.
