Valentina Shevchenko came up short in her bid to become the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion when she suffered a decision loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 215.

In a statement recently released by Shevchenko, a third fight with Nunes is something she would like to have down the line.

However, according to a tweet from Luke Thomas of MMA Fighting, the female bantamweight star is dropping ten pounds to the flyweight division.

The women’s bantamweight division is currently in its infancy at the moment, with the first ever champion to be crowned this December at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale.

Shevchenko isn’t the only big name fighter to move to the newly minted division, because Jessica Eye and Paige VanZant are the two most recent to do so, while UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk has hinted at this as well.

During her run at bantamweight, the former title challenger has defeated TUF champion Juliana Pena, former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm and former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion Sarah Kaufman.
