Robbie Lawler Leaves American Top Team

MMA

Former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler has left American Top Team.

Lawler became the first fighter in the camp to win a title in one of the big three promotions (UFC, WSOF or Bellator MMA). He won the UFC Welterweight Title when he defeated Johny Hendricks in their second fight in 2014. Lawler would go onto lose the title to Tyron Woodley by first round knockout at UFC 201 in 2016, it would be his last fight as a member of ATT.

Prior to coming to the famed camp in 2012, Lawler had spent the majority of his professional MMA career training at the Miletech Fighting Systems team in Iowa, which was led by former UFC Welterweight Champion and UFC Hall Of Fame member Pat Miletech.

Lawler has yet to fight since dropping the welterweight title at UFC 201. He was rumored to be fighting Donald Cerrone at UFC 205 this past November, but he pulled out of the fight after he felt that he didn’t recover enough from the knockout loss at UFC 201.

Outside of the UFC, has also held the Elite XC Middleweight Title, he has yet to comment on departing ATT and has yet to join another team at this time.
