Sasha Banks was recently interviewed by Sam Roberts for his wrestling podcast, and was asked what she thought of the rumors surrounding a possible match between the 4 Horsewomen of WWE and the 4 Horsewomen of MMA. She's down for it, but only if the newcomers to wrestling get trained up and pay their dues first.
The Four Horsewomen of MMA are former Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey, her current wrestling training partner Jessamyn Duke, the fiancee of NXT's Roderick Strong Marina Shafir, and Shayna Baszler, who sort of took the wrestling world by storming through the Mae Young Classic and making it all the way to next Tuesday's live Final Match.
An angle was shot at the tapings back in July that had the two groups facing off at ringside, then Rousey challenged Charlotte Flair, Bayley and Becky Lynch to a future match in the video above.
Unfortunately, through a tremendous lack of foresight by WWE, Sasha was overseas promoting an upcoming WWE tour of Australia, and couldn't be in attendance to watch the MYC, nor participate in the fight tease angle.
In the most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it is being reported that WWE has already penciled in a Four-on-Four match at Survivor Series in November. That's hardly a secret, especially to Sasha.
"I feel like I keep hearing rumblings of that too, which is cool. It’s awesome, but we are The Four Horsewomen and they’re just fans. Yeah, and if they wanted to fight us, they need to get in the back of the line like everybody else, get a contract, train down at the Performance Center, get on NXT, and try to get called up, just like everybody else."
The Observer goes on to say that there are also tentative plans for a one-on-one Ronda Rousey match at WrestleMania 34, with the most likely opponents being Charlotte Flair or Stephanie McMahon. But perhaps Sasha is throwing her hat in the ring too, because these sure sound like fighting words:
“She’s an amazing athlete. She's changed the game But she’ll never be on my level in the wrestling ring.”
