Seth Rollins Makes Surprise Appearance At NXT Takeover

In the latest chapter of his ongoing rivalry with Triple H, Seth Rollins returned to his old NXT haunts on Saturday night.

Rollins came in from out of the crowd and crashed NXT Takeover: San Antonio, essentially holding the broadcast hostage and demanding that Triple H come out and confront him. As a pivotal part of the roster on WWE's Raw brand, Rollins has been stewing for a physical showdown with Triple H, who is also the WWE COO, for several months.

Triple H answered the call-out but, rather than confront Rollins himself, he sent security guards to do the job for him. Rollins fought off the initial wave of security but finally was taken down by superior numbers.

Rollins actually is the first NXT Champion in WWE history, beating Jinder Mahal back in 2012 to win a tournament to crown the inaugural title holder.

Rollins and Triple H have been at odds since September of last year, when Triple H delivered a Pedigree to Rollins at the end of a four-way elimination match for the then-vacant WWE Universal Title. That Pedigree gave Kevin Owens the title, which Owens still holds and will defend tomorrow at the Royal Rumble against Roman Reigns. Prior to that, Rollins had been aligned with Triple H and wife Stephanie McMahon in The Authority, during which time Rollins became WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania in 2015 when he cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase. Having to vacate the title in the fall of 2015 after a major knee injury, Rollins saw his aflliance with The Authority became more of a loose affiliation after he returned to action last May.
