Daniel Cormier: Something Bad May Happen To Jon Jones At UFC 210

MMA

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier is preparing for a rematch with Anthony Johnson, the two will clash in the main event of this Saturday Night’s UFC 210 card.

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones is a longtime rival of Cormier and if Jones confronts the champion this weekend, Cormier says he may walk into a danger zone.

“He [Jones] better not come in my cage after I win,” Cormier said at the UFC 210 open workouts. “He’s not welcomed in there, he’s still suspended. When he's eligible to fight, then he can walk in the cage, but if he dares to step foot in that Octagon, something bad will happen.”

The lone fight between Cormier and Jones took place at UFC 182, the former champion left victorious on that night.

The two competitors have had a long history with each other, including a huge pull apart brawl prior to their planned rematch at UFC 187 and Jones was also flagged by USADA at their next attempt for a rematch at UFC 200

Despite his ongoing rivalry with Jones, the light heavyweight kingpin is still focused on the challenger this weekend.

“I have prepared for an Anthony Johnson that’s as good as anyone that’s ever stepped foot in the Octagon,” Cormier said. “I made him better than he could truly be because I want to make sure I leave nothing uncovered. But realistically, we haven't had much to see. Anthony Johnson has only fought for seven and a half minutes in three fights, so we’ll see how much different he is on Saturday. But the difference is that I’m going to stand up to him, I’m not afraid of Anthony Johnson in any way, shape or form. And when that happens, Anthony usually loses.”

UFC 210 takes place on Saturday, April 8 from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York with Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
