Japanese MMA legend Tatsuya Kawajiri has requested a release from the UFC.
Kawajiri took to Twitter to announce that he hopes to leave the company soon, following two consecutive losses.
After rounds of thoughts, I've asked to be released from the UFC. Plan for the future will be announced separately. Appreciate your support.

Kawajiri earned a record of 3-3-0 while competing in the UFC, with an overall professional MMA record of 35-10-2.
During his six appearances in the UFC, Kawajiri defeated Sean Soriano, Dennis Siver and Jason Knight, while suffering defeats to Clay Guida, Dennis Bermudez and Cub Swanson.
If the promotion does in fact release Kawajiri, they will be releasing a fighter who is riding a two fight losing streak and a fighter who has not earned a victory in nearly a year.
Kawajiri last competed at UFC Fight Night 92 in August 2016, dropping a unanimous decision to the aforementioned Cub Swanson.
The UFC has yet to issue any kind of statement on the situation and Kawajiri has said nothing outside of the previously mentioned Twitter post.
