After an unbelievable match, Pete Dunne is the new WWE United Kingdom Champion.
After coming up short in the finals of the tournament in January, Pete Dunne worked his way back to a title shot, which he received at NXT Takeover: Chicago. Dunne and defending champion Tyler Bate went back and forth before Dunne scored the pinfall victory.
"Since January, I've had to watch Tyler Bate living a dream, knowing this (title) was rightfully mine. I told you I was going to walk away with the United Kingdom Championship, and now everything is mine," Dunne said after the match.
You can see an excerpt from our live coverage from Ryan Cook below:
Tyler hits a dead lift Saito suplex for a near fall, then Pete puts him in a triangle choke, but Tyler picks him up and powerbombs Pete to get out of it with one hand. Tyler puts Pete in an airplane spin before falling onto him for a quick two count, then Pete counters a German suplex before hitting Tyler with a forearm in mid-air, then hits a sit-out powerbomb for a near fall. They exchange strikes, then Tyler drops Pete with a left hand before Pete hits an enzuigiri. They exchange more strikes and kicks before Tyler hits a springboard clothesline for a near fall, then they counter each others finishers before Pete rolls out of the ring. Tyler hits a triangle moonsault, then a corkscrew 450 splash for another near fall before Pete rolls back out of the ring.
Pete gets out of the way when Tyler goes to dive out onto him, then puts him back in the ring and hits The Bitter End for the pin and the win.
