Tito Ortiz has previously fought fellow former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell twice, losing both of those encounters.
Liddell recently teased a fight with Ortiz through Instagram, which lead to a heated exchange between the two throughout social media.
Ortiz recently took another shot at Liddell, this time it came during an appearance on Submission Radio.
“I left on my own terms. I left when I wanted to leave. I didn’t leave because I got knocked out four times in a row. I left when I needed to leave. I took the best I could possibly do and I walked away. I left on a storybook ending. No reason to come back and mess anything up,” says Ortiz.
The “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” himself retired after submitting fellow UFC veteran Chael Sonnen at Bellator 170.
Even though the fighter has only been retired for a few months, the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion has no plans to return.
“I just don’t plan on fighting. I don’t plan on people trying to force me to fight. I have to get a neck surgery. Why would I even think about fighting? Why would I even think about risking myself physically? I’m too old to be fighting. I’m 42 years old. I’m too old. I’m not a Randy Couture and I really don’t need the cash right now so I’d rather make money by other means. Being in the gym six days a week, six to eight hours a day is not really in my idea of working anymore. That’s behind me now. I think I’ve done what I need to do and yeah, I think I can beat Chuck but I don’t need to do that anymore,” says Ortiz.
Retired or not, the former fighter is taking part in the festivities surrounding the upcoming Bellator 180 event.
