Tyron Woodley Claims GSP Only Returning For Conor McGregor Fight

MMA

UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley is currently on the shelf after getting shoulder surgery late last year.

Georges St. Pierre is a former UFC Welterweight Champion and Woodley believes the only way GSP is getting back in the Octagon is for a super fight with UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.

Dark Side Of The Cage To Premiere In January, Will Cover Ronda Rousey, Matt Hughes, Kimbo Slice, More

“I think Conor is the fight that’ll bring him out,” Woodley said to MMA Fighting. “A smaller opponent. One hard punch, straight left that he can predict and get ready for. The takedowns are gonna be there all day for him. So I think a Conor McGregor fight is gonna provide a f*cking fortune when it comes down to money. I think that’s the fight that he’s gonna try to do.”

GSP just returned after a four-plus year absence to defeat Michael Bisping and win the UFC Middleweight Title at UFC 217.

Woodley also believes that he will be making the perfectly timed comeback once the surgically repaired shoulder is healed up.

“I heal, I pray,” Woodley said. “I think I’m gonna come back at the perfect time. I think the perfect fight is gonna be there for me. And I just really have faith in it.”

The former UFC Welterweight and Middleweight Champion in GSP had been asked about fighting McGregor in the past, but didn’t seem to interested in the bout happening.
