GSP says he's not under contract. The UFC begs to differ.
Georges St-Pierre stated on Monday's episode of The MMA Hour that his UFC contract had been terminated after the two couldn't come to terms on an agreement.
The UFC issued a statement Monday night stating the contrary.
"Georges St-Pierre remains under an existing agreement with Zuffa, LLC as his MMA promoter. Zuffa intends to honor it's agreement with St-Pierre and reserves it's rights under the law to have St-Pierre do the same."
St-Pierre mentioned on Monday that he hired an attorney, who gave the UFC a deadline to meet their terms. The company didn't, and the lawyer considered the contract terminated.
"What we asked for is really reasonable. I think we were close to an agreement on both sides. We were told everything was put on ice until the new owners took charge. We waited weeks... and were told that Lorenzo's offer was off the table. I got angry. (My lawyer) gave them a deadline to give me a fight. I wanted to fight," said GSP.
