Update On Katsuyori Shibata's Condition

New Japan Pro Wrestling's Katsuyori Shibata is going through experimental treatments and continues to experience profound vision problems as he recovers from a head injury that is expected to end his wrestling career.

Shibata provided an update on his condition on his Real Talk blog on PKDX. The update was translated and summarized on Twitter, and reads as follows:

Fourth Competitor Added To Title Match At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19

Shibata injured himself delivering a shoot headbutt to Kazuchika Okada near the end of his IWGP Heavyweight Title match against Okada at the Sakura Genesis event back in April. Shibata later underwent surgery for a subdural hematoma. Earlier this month, it was reported that Shibata never would be able to wrestle again because of the injury.

This latest update now indicates that Shibata has been struggling through health issues for quite some time even before his injury in April -- particularly that he had been suffering from double vision basically since the beginning of his wrestling career. Such a problem certainly could be exacerbated by Shibata's rugged style, and sequences like this.
