Heath Slater appeared on the February 14 edition of WWE Smackdown, losing to Daniel Bryan in what would turn out to be his final televised match for the company as the promotion has released Slater.
The decade-plus run for Slater and the WWE began when Slater was assigned to Deep South Wrestling, which was a WWE developmental territory. Slater was a part of some factions during his time with the company, including Nexus, The Corre, 3 Man Band and The Social Outcasts.
Slater would hold the WWE Tag Team Championships on both Raw and Smackdown a total of four times, while also holding the WWE 24/7 Championship one time. Slater also feuded with multiple WWE legends in the build up to Raw 1000, with those legends including Lita, Road Warrior Animal, Vader, Psycho Sid, Doink The Clown, Diamond Dallas Page Roddy Piper, Wendi Richter, Cyndi Lauper, Bob Backlund, Scotty 2 Hotty and Rikishi.
A now released Slater would post the following on Twitter:
I know everyone is waiting to hear my response to my release from WWE but after 16 years I’m going to need a little more than a few hours to really digest all my thoughts and emotions. For now, thank you all for all of your kind words and support during this time.
