Adam Cole: Acknowledging My Feud With MJF Was Important, Going That Route Was The Right Direction

Adam Cole wants closure.

Throughout 2023, Adam Cole was featured in a dynamic storyline with MJF where they gradually formed a friendship, and they won the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Cole suffered an ankle injury at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, and he later revealed that he was The Devil, who had been tormenting MJF. MJF went on to attack Cole at AEW Double or Nothing. Cole was then absent until AEW WrestleDream, where he confronted MJF.

Speaking with Rick Ucchino for The Takedown on SI, Adam Cole commented on resuming his program with MJF rather than starting something new.

“I'm sure there were a bunch of different thought processes or ideas as far as where Adam Cole was gonna go. I do feel like that, at least for a little bit, acknowledging the feud, the storyline that we are in, I feel like that's incredibly important going forward. Now, what happens after that? I don't know, but I certainly think that going that route was the right direction," Cole said.

Cole has been by himself since his return, whereas he had been part of the Undisputed Kingdom with Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, and Roderick Strong. They have been kept separate so far, and Cole said that leaving them out of the situation was important for him.

“I know that Roddy, Mike, and Matt have been very insistent on wanting to be involved. I don't know if I want them involved or not. Time will tell, but right now, I feel like leaving them out of the situation is incredibly important for me and my closure with Max," Cole said.

During the interview, Cole discussed his recovery from his ankle injury. Check out his comments here.
