On the January 3 episode of AEW Dynamite, Cole started off the show with a promo alongside Taven, Bennett, Strong, and Wardlow. Cole said that he finds it ironic that fans are shocked and appalled about his turn on MJF before calling the fans stupid. Cole then called the fans stupid for being surprised about the turn.

Cole then claimed that he is not the bad guy in the story, noting that MJF has spent the majority of his time in AEW making more enemies than anybody else in the company. Cole then noted that MJF is gone for good, claiming that he no longer works for All Elite Wrestling.

After talking about the Undisputed Kingdom's intention to win championships, Cole wrapped up his promo by saying that The Devil is here to stay. Jay White interrupted Cole and hit the ring with The Gunns to brawl with Taven, Bennett, Wardlow, and Strong. The Acclaimed also joined in on the fight.
