Adam Copeland: Christian Cage Wears A Cut-Off Turtleneck, There’s Nothing Cool About What He’s Doing

Adam Copeland compares Christian Cage to a James Bond villain and talks about the lost art of the heel in professional wrestling.

Since arriving in All Elite Wrestling at AEW WrestleDream, Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge in WWE, has been embroiled in a rivalry with his former friend and tag team partner, Christian Cage.

Their story so far has had plenty of twists and turns and Christian Cage has remained a consistent villain throughout the journey, becoming more devious with each plot twist.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Adam Copeland compared Christian Cage to a James Bond villain, noting that the reason Christian connects so well with the audience is that heels have become too cool in wrestling with time. Christian, on the other hand, is striving to be a genuine bad guy.

“He does this so well because he wants to be one,” said Copeland. “Somewhere along the way, that’s got lost. Heels became cooler than the babyface. That’s not how it should be. That’s not how he sees it, either. I mean, the man wears a cut-off turtleneck. There’s nothing cool about what he’s doing.

“He’s fully committed to it. He’s a Bond villain and loving it. It’s fun to be involved with.”

It is unknown if Christian recently started wearing the turtleneck to cover up a newly acquired third nipple.

Copeland continues to chase Christian Cage and the AEW TNT Title. To get another shot at the gold, he kick-started an open challenge that has now allowed him to get in the ring with a wide variety of wrestlers from Lee Moriarty to Minoru Suzuki.

Copeland previously stated that he believes Christian Cage has made the TNT Championship more important than the AEW World Title. Read more at this link.
