AEW SVP Nik Sobic: If AEW Fight Forever Does Well, We'll Invest In An AEW Game Franchise

AEW Fight Forever is slated to release on June 29 and marks AEW's first venture to the world of console gaming.

According to Fightful Select, the original plan was for Fight Forever to be a one-off release with constant updates and DLC as opposed to a repeat release.

If the game does well, AEW could further invest into a franchise.

“I’ve worked at AEW and known Tony Khan for the last 10 years. I can pretty much tell you he is one of the most generous people I’ve ever met. I can tell you if this video game does well, we’re going to take those dollars and put that into an AEW video game franchise. Fans speak with their wallets," Nik Sobic, senior vice president of business development, partnerships, and video games for AEW told SEScoops.

AEW Fight Forever has been delayed multiple times for various reasons with one reason being the rating for the game. Kenny Omega stated that they had to scale back things to hit a Teen rating as opposed to a Mature rating.

THQ Nordic Producer David Knudsen said about the rating, “No blood was ever taken out of this. We never dialed anything back. We were prepared to take an “M” rating if that was going to happen. Luckily, we came back with a “T” rating."

AEW Fight Forever will release on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC on Thursday, June 29. Those who pre-order the Elite Edition can play on Wednesday, June 28. Fans can learn more about the Elite Edition by clicking here.
