Izzy Moreno: I Don't Need Mercedes Mone's Help Getting Booked; If Tony Khan Would Like That Match, Let's Do it

Izzy Moreno went from being a Bayley superfan to carving her own path in wrestling with bouts in Mission Pro, SHINE, and more.

When she was still just a fan attending NXT events, she drew the ire of Mercedes Mone (Sasha Banks in WWE), who confronted Izzy for her love of Bayley. Back then, things ended well between the two as Mercedes sent Izzy flowers.

Now that Izzy is on her way up in wrestling, Mercedes isn't giving handouts.

Speaking to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, Izzy addressed her interaction with the AEW TBS Champion.

"No, when she said, ‘Stay broke, she's not going to get me booked,’ I'm going to be honest, I don't need her to get me booked. I really don't. I appreciate that. I really do. I appreciate it and if Tony Khan would like to have that match, let's do it. No, but I have, I truly, I have the utmost respect for Mercedes. Everything she's been able to do for women's wrestling as a whole is absolutely incredible. It was just an honor to be able to interact with her like that online," she said.

Izzy continued, "I thought it was the funniest thing because you never know if these people will remember like those type of moments. I just wanted to tweet her and then I was like, ‘Oh, crap she replied.’ I was like, ‘Cool. Let's do this,’ and just to see the fans, that's what the most fun part about it about it all is—the fans and how much fun they have with it and also my friends. One of my closest friends, she's a huge Mercedes fan and she was like, ‘Girl, what is happening,’ and I'm like, ‘I know. I have no idea ask your girl.’

"No, but like, honestly, it gets always such an honor when they like they tweet me. Bayley gets me really emotional for some reason. I don't know why, it just does. Mercedes, not so much, but no, Mercedes is absolutely incredible and like everything she's doing right now, like good for her, nothing but respect for her, and, hey, if we ever do get to share the ring one day, it would be freakin’ awesome because I know it's the match everybody wants to see."

Izzy is booked for WrestleMania weekend as she'll be taking on Zara Zakher at GCW on April 16.
