Well, it happened. It sure did. Alberto Del Rio faced Tito Ortiz in an MMA fight, in a Combate Americas cage on Saturday night.
Del Rio, also known as Alberto El Patron, Dos Caras Jr., and his real name Alberto Rodriguez, had not competed in MMA in almost a decade -- since before he signed with WWE. Even before then, he met mixed results at best, with his most notable win coming against Brad Kohler in 2003. He was facing a former UFC Champion in Tito Ortiz
Kind of.
Tito Ortiz reversed a clinch throw early, and proceeded to smother Del Rio. On the feet, on the ground, in the clinch, Ortiz dominated all over the place. Somehow during this situation, Ortiz won a replica WWE Spinner Championship. Nothing made sense.
Ortiz said he'd donate $10,000 to a charity, after correcting the original $50,000 figure.

Elsewhere on the show, "Sexy Star" Dulce Garcia competed in her latest MMA bout. It didn't last long, as opponent Anali Lopez Hernandez tapped out to a standing guillotine choke in a hurry -- just under three minutes. The choke was set up by some clinch work and strikes, keeping Sexy Star undefeated in MMA.
