Audience Member Who Attacked Seth Rollins Says His Plan Was To Help Finn Balor, Calls Himself A Fan

The spectator who attacked Seth Rollins during the November 22 episode of WWE Raw has commented on his actions.

During this past Monday's show, Rollins was attacked by a fan who jumped the guardrails while he was heading back up the entranceway. Luckily, officials were able to quickly pull him away.

Marc Raimondi of ESPN provided updates of the situation throughout the evening, noting that a 24-year-old male was taken into custody by the NYPD and has been charged with attempted assault and attempted violation of arts and cultural affairs.

It was later revealed on social media that the perpetrator of the attack had been scammed by a catfish Seth Rollins account online. He says that is why he did what he did on Monday Night Raw.

After Rollins gave his account of the incident yesterday, the man in question spoke with the New York Daily News and said, “I apologized to the WWE for my actions. I had a legitimate beef but as a grown man I could have settled it a different way ... If I saw him today I wouldn’t attack him. I’ve moved on.”

Spencer shared that he met Rollins at a meet-and-greet a few years ago and asked the Superstar for help to launch his own career in the business. He then began communicating on WhatsApp and other messenger services with someone he remains convinced was Rollins.

“He was asking me to send him gift cards in exchange for money, mostly $500 or more to see if I was loyal,” he said. “He asked me to be a wrestling blogger for him. I wanted to work my way up.”

After spending nearly $3000, "Rollins" sent Spencer a check but, not surprisingly, it bounced.

He concluded by saying the following:

“My plan was to help Finn Balor. I’m a fan,” he said. “I like his aura, his attitude. I like everything about his charisma. I like everything about him.”

“I jumped from where I was sitting at. I ran and speared Seth Rollins. I busted his lip open and he caught me in a headlock,” he continued. “I broke the headlock and I was trying to get him, then the referees and the security guards broke us apart.”

WWE issued the following statement to Fightful following the attack:

"WWE takes the safety of its performers very seriously. The individual who attacked Seth Rollins has been turned over to the NYPD and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Fightful will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
