Austin Theory To Defend EVOLVE Title Against Josh Briggs At EVOLVE 136

Austin Theory may be signed to WWE, but he still has to defend his EVOLVE Championship.

EVOLVE announced that Theory will defend his title against Josh Briggs at the upcoming EVOLVE 136 show. The event will take place on September 21 at La Boom in Queens, New York.

The match comes fresh off the heels of the EVOLVE 134 show that saw Theory, Briggs and JD Drake wrestling in a triple threat match for the title. Theory ended up winning the match, but now must defend his title against Briggs in what EVOLVE is calling "the first-ever one-on-one match between them."

It's been a busy month for Theory, who not only has had to defend his EVOLVE title, but also made an appearance at NXT TakeOver: Toronto sitting ringside. Soon after, Theory not only signed with WWE, but also was one of the featured new signees in a class that included Santana Garrett that will report to the Performance Center.

EVOLVE is also advertising on its website a meet and greet with former NXT champion Tommaso Ciampa for the September 21 show. The show will be part of a double header with Shine Wrestling also having an event, Shine 61, that same day at the same location.
