Austin Theory is looking forward to John Cena's return.
WWE announced that Cena will appear on the March 6 episode of WWE Raw. On the February 20 episode of WWE Raw, United States Champion Austin Theory noted that he felt like the news about Cena's return was dominating the headlines, but everyone should have been talking about his win at WWE Elimination Chamber, where he retained his title in an Elimination Chamber match. After the premium live event, Theory issued an open challenge for Raw, and Edge answered it. Theory then defeated the legend in the main event on Monday night.
In a WWE Digital Exclusive after the February 20 episode of WWE Raw, the champion discussed his hot streak and emphasized that he felt great. He stated that his work ethic led him to issue the open challenge for Monday's show, and he was on cloud nine after he beat the WWE Hall of Famer.
“I feel so good. You don’t know how it feels to be the United States Champion at 25 years old, the now [and] the forever of WWE. I entered the Elimination Chamber this year, my second Elimination Chamber, and I beat five of the best in the WWE. But that wasn’t enough for me. You know why? Because I got work ethic. I outwork everybody. I get up, I out-train everybody, I eat more meals than everybody, I stay on top of everything. Guess what? Moved on from that, the Elimination Chamber victory, and I showed up on my show, Monday night Raw, and an open challenge for the champ’s title. I beat ‘The Rated-R Superstar’, Mr. Hall of Famer himself, Edge. So yes, I feel good," Theory said.
Theory then brought up Cena's looming return. He made it clear that he was looking forward to the special occasion, as he wanted to give the former world champion a warm welcome back to the red brand. Theory stated that things are different now, and he implied that he intends to show Cena that on the March 6 episode of WWE Raw.
"The headlines now, they certainly read Austin Theory is the now and the forever of the WWE. That little John Cena thing, two weeks away, Monday night Raw, John Cena, I can’t wait for that. I can’t wait to bring him home and give him a warm, warm welcome to Monday night Raw. You want to know why? Because things are a little different around here now. Now, the now. Remember that," Theory said.
Theory, who had a brief segment with Cena on the June 27 episode of WWE Raw in 2022, previously said a WrestleMania match against Cena could happen. Check out his comments here.
