Hard work has paid off for Becky Lynch.
Speaking to the folks at The Gorilla Position, the SmackDown Women's Champion was asked about comparisons to Steve Austin and CM Punk. Like Lynch, Austin and Punk portrayed the blue-collar worker who stood up against the machine and those more privileged or naturally gifted than them. Lynch stated, "It's quite an honor to be compared to 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, arguably one of the greatest superstars we've ever had. Unbelievable. I take that with a lot of pride and it's kind of humbling."
When asked if she's ever gotten advice from Austin, Lynch revealed that she has spoken to Austin then discussed how her character is so relatable.
"I have picked his brain, he's been very generous with his advice. He's all about owning my character and having fun and being real and staying real. That's what made him so great. He was real and everybody could relate to him. Everybody can relate to this Becky Lynch character. So many people they struggle and maybe don't have natural ability. I have no natural ability. I will say that, hands down, time and time again. I have absolutely no talent. But I'm a really hard worker," said Lynch.
The Man has worked hard to promote her upcoming bout with Ronda Rousey, taking to social media over the past few weeks to lob shots in the direction of the Raw Women's Champion. Lynch and Rousey will finally settle the score this Sunday at WWE Survivor Series.
