Big E: 'If It Was Up To Me, Of Course, I'd Love To Bring The Five-Count Back'

Big E will always hold a fondness in his heart for his time in NXT.

As the wrestling world continues to buzz about all of the potential that Big E possesses as a singles competitor, Big E is reflecting on another successful time in his singles career, his time as NXT Champion.

Big E was only the second NXT champion in history. He dethroned Seth Rollins shortly after Seth Rollins debuted on WWE television as a member of The Shield. At the time, E was using the “five-count” gimmick made famous by King Kong Bundy.

Speaking with Bleacher Report, Big E reveals that if it was up to him, he would bring back the beloved NXT gimmick during his present-day solo run.

"NXT didn't have the same amount of eyes on it, but that was also huge for my career," he said. "I don't get to the main roster if it wasn't for the five-count and the way people connected with it, but it was so much fun. It allowed me to show some personality in a different way."

He continued, "If it was up to me, of course, I'd love the five-count again and bring it back. That would be a lot of fun. It would definitely be different without a crowd. If I were you, I would keep my hopes low. I haven't had any conversations, it's out of my hands. I would love to do it, but don't hold your breath."

On last night’s SmackDown, Big E kept his momentum going with a backstage promo. You can see full results of SmackDown at this link.
