Ever since making his debut in the WWE over a decade ago, many fans have considered a matchup between successful MMA-pro wrestling crossover stars Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley a dream pairing.
The two men are often compared to each other because of their size, athletic abilities and their unique background. Though Lashley remains in TNA with Impact Wrestling while Lesnar is in the WWE, Lashley told Jim Ross on The Ross Report that he still gets asked about facing The Beast at the WWE's largest annual show, WrestleMania.
“You know, I hear that all the time. And, J.R., you know this as well as I do, it’s not in my hands. If you ask me, I would say, ‘absolutely’, but it’s the powers that be. I think there are enough fans who would love to see it. They’ve been saying it from day one. The funny thing about it is I’ve never met Brock in person, never crossed paths with Brock at all anywhere, so we don’t even know each other at all whatsoever. And I’ve always been compared to Brock and they’ve always said, ‘hey, are you and Brock going to fight? Are you and Brock going to wrestle?'”
Lashley in a WWE ring again seems like a long shot. With his desire to fight on a regular basis for Bellator, it's hard to see the WWE allowing him to continue that route as often as Impact Wrestling does. As far as a potential MMA fight between the two goes, Lashley said that he doesn't think it's possible due to Lesnar being with the UFC and him being with the aforementioned Bellator promotion in addition to the uncertainty of Lesnar's MMA future.
