SummerSlam featured a number of WWE stars in action but one notable absence from the show entirely was Braun Strowman.
The former RAW Tag Team champion didn't have a match on the show and was asked about it in an interview with Sportskeeda's Kevin C. Sullivan. Strowman did lament the fact that he didn't wrestle at SummerSlam but knew that it wouldn't serve him much if he were to compete without a storyline in place or have anything long-term planned for him.
"Yeah, that was a pretty tough pill for me to swallow. But, at the same time, with me not being in a storyline, and they didn't just want to shoehorn me in, just to have me on there for no reason. They're doing a good job of making sure that any time Braun's on TV, it's something impactful," Strowman said.
Strowman did in fact return on the post-SummerSlam edition of Monday Night RAW on August 12 when he, alongside Ricochet, helped save Seth Rollins after The OC attacked him in the main event match against AJ Styles. Now, WWE announced that Styles will defend his United States title against Strowman on the August 19 episode of RAW.
Fightful will have live coverage of RAW as is the case every week followed by a post-show podcast immediately after RAW goes off the air.
